Described as an “excellent comedic actor” and “formidable soprano,” Charlotte Knight is a versatile artist, equally at home in theatre, musical theatre and operetta.

During the 2016/17 season, Charlotte relocated to London, UK to complete the intensive 1-Year Musical Theatre Diploma at The Associated Studios.  She made her debut with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist in Dream of Christmas…Rêve de Noël and was a semi-finalist in the 2017 Lotte Lenya Competition in New York, USA.  She also won 1st Place in the Stephen Sondheim Competition at The Associated Studios and advanced to the semi-final round of the Classical Singer Musical Theatre Competition in Chicago, USA.

Charlotte will make her UK debut in June, 2017 singing the role of Cinderella in Sondheim’s Into The Woods at The Chelsea Theatre in London.

Last season, Charlotte toured Ontario, Canada with To Be Determined Theatre Co. in a musical adaptation of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.  She also performed the role of Josephine in HMS Pinafore with Toronto Operetta Theatre, Villa Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 with The Gallery Players of Niagara, and the roles of 1st Fairy and 2nd Woman in The Fairy Queen with Toronto Masque Theatre.

Her other stage roles include Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee with No Strings Theatre Co., Cecily in Benson & Davies’ Canadian operetta Earnest, The Importance of Being and Hanna in the Canadian premiere of Künneke’s Cousin from Nowhere (Der Vetter aus Dingsda) both with Toronto Operetta Theatre, Johanna in Sondheim’s Sweeney Toddand Phyllis in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe.

A former opera singer, Charlotte has performed with numerous Canadian ensembles, including The Opera Project as Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème, Orchestra London as Marie in a gala performance of Donizetti’s La Fille du Régiment, Primavera Concerts as Lieschen in Bach’s Coffee Cantata, the Etobicoke Philharmonic as Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Toronto’s Opera in Concert and the Classical Music Consort as Diana in Haydn’s La Fedeltá Premiata, and Toronto Masque Theatre as Aréthuze in Charpentier’s La Descente d’Orphée aux Enfers.

Her other opera roles include Morgana in Handel’s Alcina, Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Serpetta in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, Zeite Dame and Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Barbarina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaroand Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone.
